The Magic Behind Chlorine and Salt-Water Resistance

At UV Skinz, we design our garments to not only protect you from the sun but also to stand up to the elements, especially chlorine and salt water. Curious about how we do it? Let us share a little insight into our process (without giving away all of our secrets!).

The secret to our garments’ durability lies in the fabric itself! We use a tightly woven fabric, which plays a key role in giving our products their UPF 50+ protection. But we don’t stop there. During the weaving process, the fibers are treated with a special, proprietary agent that helps bind them together, making them more resistant to the harsh effects of chlorine and salt water. After the treatment, the agent is completely washed out, so there’s no residue left behind to affect your skin or the environment.

While we won’t reveal the full recipe (we're sure our competitors would love to get their hands on that!), rest assured that this treatment is designed to keep your swimwear functioning at its best, no matter how many dips you take in the pool or ocean.

Safe and Thoroughly Tested

Your safety and satisfaction are our top priorities. That’s why every fabric we use undergoes rigorous testing for hundreds of harmful chemicals to ensure that nothing is left behind. If you're looking for more specific information about any potential chemicals in our fabrics, feel free to let us know. We’d be happy to pass your inquiry to our product team for further review.

Care for Your Garment, and It’ll Care for You

While our chlorine and salt-water resistant fabrics are built to last, proper care is essential to keeping them in top condition. Washing your UV Skinz items won't affect their functionality, but we do recommend following our care instructions to ensure you get the absolute most out of your garments.
