How to Remove Wrinkles in FabricsUpdated 9 hours ago

How to Remove Wrinkles from UV Skinz Swimwear

Wrinkles in your UV protective swimwear are usually temporary and can often be smoothed out easily with a few simple steps. Because these garments are made with performance fabrics (typically a polyester and elastane blend), it's important to avoid high heat, which can damage the fabric or reduce its UV protection. Here's how to safely remove wrinkles:

Method 1: Hang-Dry Method (Best for Light Wrinkles)

  1. Hang the Garment: Place the item on a hanger or lay it flat on a clean surface.

  2. Use Steam from a Shower: Hang it in the bathroom while running a hot shower (close the door to create steam). Let it hang for 10–20 minutes—the steam will help relax the wrinkles.

  3. Smooth with Hands: Gently smooth out the fabric with your hands after steaming. Do not stretch it.

Method 2: Damp Towel Press (Gentle Manual Release)

  1. Lay Flat: Place the wrinkled garment on a flat surface like a table or bed.

  2. Dampen a Clean Towel: Use a towel that's damp (not soaking wet), and lay it over the wrinkled area.

  3. Press Gently: Use your hands to press the towel down over the garment. Avoid rubbing or scrubbing.

Method 3: Low Heat Steaming (Safe & Effective)

  1. Use a Garment Steamer: If you have a handheld steamer, use it on the lowest heat setting.

  2. Steam from a Distance: Hold the steamer 2–3 inches away from the fabric and move it continuously to prevent overheating.

  3. Let Cool While Hanging: After steaming, hang the garment and allow it to fully air dry.

⚠️ Avoid These Methods

  • Do not iron: Heat from irons can damage the elastane fibers and compromise UV protection.

  • Do not use a clothes dryer on high heat: High temperatures can break down the elastic and protective qualities of the fabric.

  • Do not wring or twist: This can stretch or warp the material.

By following these safe and gentle methods, your UV Skinz swimwear will look its best and maintain its protective properties. If you have any questions about care, feel free to reach out to us!
