Are chemical sunscreens safe?Updated 8 months ago
We only offer sunscreen from companies we feel safe using for ourselves and our families! All of the sunscreens we offer are reef-safe and we have several mineral options.
Some sunscreens use chemical active ingredients as the chemical actives are lighter in consistency and lend themselves to certain types of formulas like SPF moisturizers and other hydrating items. The mineral actives like zinc and titanium are naturally drying so it is tough to create hydrating products with mineral active ingredients.
All chemical actives are constantly being reviewed by the FDA and some places in the US (like the Virgin Islands and Hawaii) have banned all chemical actives since they can be harmful to coral reefs.
If you have any additional questions about the ingredients in one of the sunscreens we sell, please feel free to reach out to our awesome Customer Service at [email protected]. They will be happy to help you!
